Bend in the road

been reading Bend in the road this week...i was drawn to Nicholas Sparks a few years ago when i first watched "The Notebook" on DVD... for romantophilic,scar-o-horror types like me (and for braver species tooo), its a wonderful movie....it is very rare that you like a movie better than the original. it may be because i saw the movie first and the cinematic execution was too satisfying that i decided that the movie was better than the book itself. That, in a way, means that the author loses out to a more visually appealing, explicit canvas. i thought to myself then that i would read other Nicholas Sparks novels untouched by the silver screen or would not view the cinematic version if there was one, until i could finish the book.

So saying, i got the book and started reading it(its been a while since my last book). Now that i am done with it, it has not been a life changing experience (like my favorites - Kane and Abel etc.,)..now i can't even be sure that i would have appreciated "The Notebook" but for the movie....could the plot get any more predictable??? i should hand it to the author that this was not a whoduunnit...but still, if there is mystery in a romantic novel, it cant be set as explicit... may be its just me,but i dont know who, after reading the first 100 or so pages, could not have nailed the plot... its another matter that i really didnt see much of the romance in the book...every frigging detail in the book was - cliche', predictable..honestly i was taken in by the book's title and went for it, apart from the Nic Sparks' charm...now i dont know if i could be mesmerized anymore by this man...
